Yes. Yes they are.
After a rather painful and unsuccessful day of trying to find a grad dress with my sister, we got home late and I was in dire need of a sugar fix. With no cookbooks downstairs due to the cleanup for our Come dine with me night a la Hannah (more later), I decided to check out some of my many food apps (personally recommend Nevens and Nigellas!). Well I tapped straight to a chocolate section in Nigella’s app, and lo and behold, lurking at the end is a recipe for double chocolate cookies. These cookies looked… amazing. I mean, these are the kind of cookies that dreams and 50lbs overweight are made of. I stared at the picture, dumbfounded, and made up my mind. These cookies were going to be made, goshdarnit.
Straight from Nigella’s ‘Quick’ iPhone app, I give you ‘Totally chocolate chocolate chip cookies’
WARNING: Not suitable for chocoholics on the dry, will lead to relapse.
You will need:
125g dark chocolare
150g plain flour
30g cocoa powder
1tsp bicarb of soda
1/2 tsp salt
75g light brown sugar
50g white sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
1 egg, cold from fridge
280g chocolate chips (was originally 350g but that is a LOT of chocolate and I ran out. Also, I used 60%)
What to do
As always, enjoy them and try not to devour all 30. Again, I’m not going to say how many are left. Let’s just say I have eaten enough chocolate to last me at least 2 months. Sigh. Serve with cold milk and a cute straw!
Yum, yum, yum, yum. Can you convert these into a birthday cake for me?
Hmmm, I shall take that challenge! Happy birthday again, hope it was as good as you planned 🙂
And technically I have a whole month until my actual real birthday… I shall be milking these celebrations like a cow 🙂 🙂 🙂 Still have dinner at Chez Panisse & Frances in San Francisco to look forward to!
You should make more and sell them online…
They look really goooooooood
Thanks, they’re well worth the effort! I’d love to do such, they’re so yummy. Supplying the masses with yumminess!
Those look utterly delicious!
Thank you! They were. Try them out, you shall not be disappointed..
Those look so good, I must give them a go (even though I am sulking at Nigella on account of some of her recipes from ‘Domestic Goddess’ not being as well tested as they might be).
You are so lucky to have a little sister who doesn’t seem to mind being made fun of. I have one of those as well. I am intrigued by this ‘Come Dine With Me’ night, I shall be watching this space.
I have to say, these are a major success. Might add in some white choc chips next time too.
Little sis gives as good as she gets, the insults fly around this house, thus why we’re all so thick skinned. She’s actually really smart so she can deal with us making fun of the silly things she says.
Quite possibly. They look seriously delicious and dense and moist. Lovely – just the way a cookie should be. I hate dry ones people make – it’s just not right!
They’re amazing when warm and chocolate is melty. May have to test one now, just to make sure they’re still good, y’know? Because I’m that selfless. Yup.
